Why Choose Us

Board-Certified Psychiatrists

Your psychiatric care plan will be overseen by one of our experienced, board-certified psychiatrists.

Cutting-Edge Treatments

Our cutting-edge treatments provide results for 70% of patients, including those who have not responded to other treatments.

Personalized Care

Our goal is to maximize your results and minimize potential side effects. Your provider will take the time to get a deep understanding of your symptoms and work with you to develop a targeted treatment plan to improve your brain health.

Innovative Treatments

We offer a full spectrum of psychiatric interventions, plus new, innovative treatments that work differently to provide relief for treatment-resistant conditions.

Psychiatric Medication Management

Our dedicated psychiatrists take the time to get a deep understanding of your health and medical history. With expertise in managing difficult-to-treat mental illnesses, we can find the right combination of treatments to help you feel whole again.

Esketamine/Spravato

FDA-approved in 2020 to treat suicidal thoughts, esketamine can provide life-saving relief within hours.

Genetic Testing

By identifying genetic attributes, we can see which treatments may provide the greatest benefit for you. With these insights and a tailored psychiatric care plan, we can help you feel better, faster.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

Using pulsed magnetic fields similar to an MRI machine, TMS therapy repairs parts of the brain involved in mood regulation. Completed over the course of several weeks, patients can return to work immediately following treatment.

Ketamine

Ketamine is offered as an injection or IV infusion. Unlike many ketamine providers, we follow the Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) protocol and American Psychiatric Association guidelines for all treatments.

Laboratory Analysis

Using laboratory analysis, we can take a look at your health at a granular level to identify and target possible causes of your psychiatric symptoms.

Vagal Nerve Stimulation (VNS)

In a short, outpatient procedure, a small device is implanted just below the collar bone. The vagal nerve stimulator will send electrical pulses to the vagus nerve to stimulate its natural mood regulation process.

Group & Individual Therapy

Therapy improves the effectiveness of psychiatric care plans by giving you the tools needed to manage stress, intrusive thoughts, and more. Your provider may suggest group or individual psychotherapy as part of your holistic psychiatric care plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

TMS is very different from Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), often referred to as ‘shock treatment’. ECT introduces electricity into the brain, while the patient is sedated. While ECT is still one of the most effective treatments for depression, it may cause negative side effects, such as memory loss or headaches.

Instead, TMS uses magnetic pulses, similar to an MRI machine. Patients are awake during the 15-30 minute procedure. Patients may experience a tapping sensation on their forehead, beeping sounds, and mild side effects that dissipate quickly after treatment. No negative impacts on memory or concentration have been reported with TMS therapy.

Patients may drive themselves home and resume regular activities immediately after treatment.

Most insurance companies cover the cost of TMS Treatment. Contact your insurance provider to see if your plan covers TMS treatment for your mental health condition.

Ketamine does not cause physiological dependence, though does have a history of being abused. Treatments are only given in the office under the direct supervision of a mental health provider. We administer the lowest dose necessary to provide a therapeutic effect. Ketamine can be especially helpful to provide rapid relief from depressive symptoms, with an ultimate goal of employing other treatment methods to provide long-term relief.

Learn more about our safety protocol for ketamine and esketamine (Spravato) treatments.

Some insurance companies cover the cost of ketamine/esketamine (Spravato), but it varies by insurer and your insurance plan. We are one of the only ketamine providers in Minnesota that accept insurance.

Contact your insurance provider to see if your plan covers ketamine or esketamine for your mental health condition.

We do not prescribe medicinal marijuana for patients. And, because marijuana is a depressant, it can work counter to some treatments. However, if this is part of your current treatment plan with your primary physician we ask you to disclose this information with your AB+BC provider during your appointment as part of your full medical history.

Before your first appointment, please call your insurance provider to verify your outpatient mental health benefits and that ABBC is in-network. Our team will email you our new patient forms, once completed and returned, our team will schedule your new patient appointment.

New patient appointments are typically 60-90 minutes to give your provider the time needed to get to know you, your medical history, symptoms, lifestyle, and more to develop the most effective treatment plan, tailored to your unique needs.

Learn more about what to expect during your first appointment at Advanced Brain and Body Clinic.

We are currently only accepting new patients with Medicare Advantage and Medical Assistance plans who have these plans through UCare.
