AB+BC Psychiatry Clinic Moves to Larger Location Due to High Need for Treatment-Resistant Mental Health Care

Clinic’s success is driven by advocating for insurance coverage of ketamine and other interventional treatments, while not being limited by a ketamine-for-cash business model.

Minneapolis, MN July 13, 2023

Minnetonka-based psychiatry practice, Advanced Brain + Body Clinic Ketamine TMS (AB+BC), is moving to a larger clinic space due to high demand for their full-spectrum psychiatric care and advanced treatments for patients with treatment-resistant depression, anxiety and PTSD. Despite closures across the ketamine provider landscape, ABBC continues to grow its mental health team while taking a holistic approach to treating psychiatric illnesses. The new Golden Valley location, opening August 1st, will allow space for the clinic to grow capacity 100%, offering life-saving treatments to even more people who have been struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD and bipolar disorder in the Twin Cities area.

Rather than focusing on a specific treatment or medication, prescribers at ABBC take a deep look at each patients’ medical history and lifestyle, plus complete laboratory workups to identify factors which may contribute to their psychiatric symptoms, and develop a personalized treatment plan for each patient. “We have found that through a combination of holistic health practices such as diet, exercise, and the newest depression treatment methods, we can help repair the parts of the brain responsible for mood regulation. Instead of covering up symptoms, we can work to solve the root cause of the problem which in many cases even results in the patient’s depression going into complete remission or a reduced need for medication over time,” says Dr. Stephen Manlove.

At the new Golden Valley location, Advanced Brain and Body Clinic Ketamine TMS will now offer individual and group therapy sessions for general psychotherapy and psychedelic assisted psychotherapy. ABBC’s mental health specialists frequently refer their patients out for therapy as part of their treatment plan because psychotherapy has proven to improve responses to psychiatric treatments such as ketamine and TMS. By offering therapy in-house, a patient’s care team can collaborate more effectively by working together under one roof, plus patients can conveniently get all of the mental health care they need from one office.

Specializing in treatment resistant depression, anxiety, PTSD and bipolar disorder, ABBC has facilitated breakthroughs in even the most severe cases. Some patients have struggled for decades, while others have been in and out of the hospital with suicide attempts. Read about three patients whose lives had been debilitated by depression before seeking help from ABBC in Psychology Today.

ABBC has been dedicated to working with many major insurance providers to cover the cost of their mental health treatments including ketamine, esketamine (Spravato), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and Vagal Nerve Stimulation (VNS). Most clinics who only provide ketamine do not accept insurance coverage, leaving patients with a rather large bill.

“As a psychiatrist, my goal is to help people live healthier, happier lives. Without insurance coverage, we would only be able to treat a select group of patients who could afford it. That’s why from day one, our team has worked diligently to get insurance coverage for our treatments to make our mental health services accessible to as many people as possible,” says Dr. Brian Johns.
